10 Days Chauffeur-driven Tour

  

Day 01 - CASABLANCA
Upon arrival at Casablanca Mohamed Vth Airport, you will be met by a Mystical Tours representative and transferred to your hotel. After checking in, start a short visit of Casablanca. Drive alongside the harbor into the city center for a panoramic tour. Return to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure, dinner and overnight.

Day 02 – CASABLANCA - RABAT -MEKNES -VOLUBILIS - FEZ
In the morning, admire the magnificent architecture and Moroccan handicraft of the monumental Hassan II mosque, the second largest mosque in the world. Depart to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. In Rabat, see the mausoleum of the late King Mohamed V, a jewel of Hispano-Moorish architecture. Nearby are the Hassan tower and the Oudayas Kasbah, overlooking the mouth of the Bou Regreg River. You will have time at leisure for lunch before heading to Meknes, former imperial city built at the end of the 17th century by King Moulay Ismail. The Meknes city tour includes the old ramparts, the Moulay Ismail stables, granaries and House of Water. Also visit the Bab el Mansour, one of the most beautiful gates in Morocco; and the Moulay Ismail mausoleum. Drive to FEZ for dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 03– FEZ
The whole day will be devoted to an extensive visit of FEZ, a city which dates back to the 9th century. Flat and comfortable shoes are a must for the visit of the medina with its small winding and cobbled alleys. See the old Koranic Bou Inania Medersa; the Karaouyine Mosque (from the outside only); the Shrine of Moulay Idriss II, founder of the city; Nejjarine and Seffarine squares; and the massive doors of the Royal Palace. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 04– FEZ - MARRAKECH
In the morning, cross the Middle Atlas mountains en route to Marrakech. Pass the village of Immouzzer du Kandar, the lake of Aoua, and the Ifrane ski resort in the heart of a cedar forest. Continue through Azrou and Khenifra, down the Tadla Valley. In the rich agricultural area of Beni Mellal, a break is planned with time free for lunch. This is a rather long day trip, but very enjoyable due to the ever changing scenery. Travel through fertile valleys, high mountains and rolling hills, long stretches of verdant pasture land and typical Moroccan villages. In the late afternoon, arrive in Marrakech for dinner and overnight.

Day 05– MARRAKECH
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a full day sightseeing of Marrakech. In the morning, visit the historical monuments: the Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian tombs and the Bahia Palace. In the late afternoon, discover the labyrinth of souks with their numerous tiny shops bustling with activity, and Djemaa el Fna square with its medieval open-air entertainment. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 06– MARRAKECH - AIT BEN HADDOU -OUARZAZATE
Enjoy a morning at leisure. In the early afternoon, depart for Ouarzazate. Drive through the striking scenery of the Atlas Mountains and cross the Tizi N’Tichka Pass at an altitude of over 7,400 feet. Arrive in Ouarzazate and take a panoramic tour of the city before checking into your hotel for dinner and overnight.

 

Day 07– OUARZAZATE - TINGHIR -TODRA GORGES- ERFOUD-MERZOUGA DUNES

In the early morning, set out for Erfoud through the beautiful landscapes of the 1,000 Kasbah Valley, scattered with oases and kasbahs. The route takes you first through Skoura and then El Kelaa des Mgouna. After Skoura, the palm trees are replaced by orchards and irrigated gardens. Roses for making perfume are the speciality of El Kelaa des Mgouna. The perfume PARIS, by Yves Saint Laurent, is made from the extract of these roses. Stop for rose products such as rose water, body milk and dried petals. Continue to Boulmane du Dades, a large town and local administration center at the foot of the gorge; and further on to Tineghir, a former military outpost built on terraces above a magnificent palm grove, and the gateway to the magnificent Todra Gorge. Drive between the awesome 300 meter cliffs “at the ends of the Earth.” A little farther on, there is a holy spring said to cure sterility in women. You will have time here for lunch before driving on to Erfoud for dinner and overnight.

Day 08– ERFOUD - RISSANI - ZAGORA
Depart in the early morning for Rissani, cradle of the presently reigning Alaouite dynasty. See the outside of the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif and go inside the Abou Aam Ksar fortified village. Then travel through a pre-Saharan landscape of “regs” (rocky tables) and Berber villages scattered among the small oases. A stop for lunch is arranged on the way.
In the late afternoon, arrive Zagora for dinner and overnight.

Day 09– ZAGORA - MARRAKECH
Take an early morning tour to Tamegrout and the Tinfou Dunes. Then start back toward Ouarzazate following the Draa Wadi Valley, where six palm forests form a long ribbon of greenery. Cereals, henna, vegetables, fruit and date palms are cultivated on the floor of the valley and on the terraced valley walls. A lunch break is planned near the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, after which we will cross the splendid High Atlas Mountains and arrive in Marrakech for dinner and overnight.

Day 10–DEPARTURE  You will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
